Drivers in Chicago, Skokie, Park Ridge, and Forest Park can find out about the Jeep Grand Cherokee MPG with our in-depth fuel economy review.
The base Grand Cherokee comes with a 3.6-liter V6 that produces 295 horsepower, which is perfect for around-town driving and light off-roading. A 360-horsepower, 5.7-liter V8 is also available, which increases the base engine’s performance and versatility.
Drivers can also choose a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 diesel engine that produces 240 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. This engine has strong low- and midrange torque, making it a good choice for both towing and off-roading.
Two high-performance trims are available: the SRT and Trackhawk. The SRT is equipped with a 475-horsepower, 6.4-liter V8 that shifts torque to the front or rear axles as needed. The Trackhawk is equipped with a 707-horsepower, supercharged 6.2-liter V8 that also powers the Challenger Hellcat.
All trims cycle power to the rear, or all four wheels, through a responsive eight-speed automatic transmission with shift paddles. Some offer the Quadra-Lift® Air Suspension that adjusts ride height, giving the Grand Cherokee better load height, off-road capability, or fuel economy as needed. Properly equipped, the Grand Cherokee can tow a maximum of 7,200 pounds.
