Symptoms of a Declining A/C System

When a problem develops in your A/C unit, the obvious consequence will be a lack of cold air or cooling.

However, other warning signs can show up depending upon the air conditioning component with a problem. Here is a list of the most common symptoms that we see:

• A/C isn’t blowing out cold air like before, or there is no cold air production at all
• A/C makes noise when turned on
• The condenser is dirty or clogged with debris
• Radiator if dirty or clogged with debris
• Oil visible around the compressor clutch seal
• Compressor clutch does not move

What happens during an Air Conditioning Performance Check?

Every air conditioning performance check begins with a certified technician from our service center, an air temperature testing instrument, and a certified Mopar service protocol.

The air exiting your vents will be assessed and compared to factory tables given ambient temperatures. This is done in order to verify if there is a problem. More often than not, a vehicle brought in for an A/C check has a known issue that requires adjustment. Once a lack of cold air production is verified, the service tech will then move to a physical assessment. They will focus on finding any leaks in the system. Finding leaks will usually isolate the problem.

The system is then cleaned, the refrigerant is recharged, and a compressor belt adjustment is made as necessary. This is done in order to correct the root problem and to restore peak air cooling performance. At the end of the service, our certified technician will verify that the vent discharge temperature is sufficient given the ambient air temperature.
